Dr. Bert Schwarz, N.D., L.Ac.

Dr. Schwarz attained his Masters of Science in Acupuncture and Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Washington. In addition, he trained for two years in Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Northwest Institute of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Dr. Schwarz has been in private practice for 10 years, first in Mystic, CT (1997-2005) and, more recently at Revive (2005-present). He integrates Holistic Western Medicine and Chinese Medicine for comprehensive complementary care.

The natural therapies Dr. Schwarz employs include Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine, nutrition and dietary counseling, classical Homeopathic medicine, botanicals and nutraceuticals. He is particularly interested in preventative medicine, identifying the root of concerns – not just the symptoms, and treating the whole person, body, mind and spirit.

Dr. Schwarz’s specialties include women’s health – with an emphasis on fertility, menopause, PMS, and menstrual disorders, pain management -headaches, neck and back pain, and arthritis, cardiovascular disease – high blood pressure, elevated cholesterol, and diabetes, blood sugar disorders- syndrome x, hypoglycemia, allergy and immune disorders – ear and sinus infections, chronic allergies, and lyme disease, and digestive disorders – irritable bowel syndrome, crohn’s disease, colitis, and constipation.

Regarding his practice, Dr. Schwarz says “I deeply believe in the original meaning of doctor – docere – teacher. Our role is to help patients learn how to take good care of themselves”. Also, “Besides seeing people feel better, what I most enjoy about my practice is the connection to my patients. Each patient is a gift, and a teacher to me.
