Dr. Marianela Medrano is a Dominican writer and psychotherapist. She offers more than 10 years of experience working for diverse populations. In her work she uses literature as a healing tool. Her work experience includes adolescents, adults and the elderly. She is a licensed professional counselor and a certified poetry therapist. Her areas of interest and practice include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Integral Psychotherapy.
Dr. Medrano lectures across the country on issues of spirituality with emphasis on the Divine Feminine, cross-cultural psychology, healing and writing. Her emphasis is women’s growth and development, but her practice is not limited to them. She has been a faculty mentor for the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology, now Sophia University, in Palo Alto, California, and a visiting scholar at Goddard College, in Vermont. Her work as a poetry therapist was recognized with an outstanding award from the National Association for Poetry Therapy in 2007.
